This Week’s Patron of the Week comes from the Land of Random Thoughts To Tell The Librarian Assistant Before You Leave The Circulation Desk.

Please welcome Mr. Scientists-Are-Making-Non-Organic-Life-And-That’s-Scary-Isn’t-It?

So yes, as he was walking away from the desk, he turned around as if he had forgotten something and then said,

“Scientists are making non-organic life and that’s scary, isn’t it?”

Me and co-worker who also was standing at desk at time: “Hmmmm.”

What else can you say to that?

On the other hand, he said, scientists making non-organic life also could be seen as “cool.”

He then told me what else was cool: biological lasers

…and really cool: “If they’d put those lasers on shark’s heads.”

Me and co-worker: “Hmmmm.”

After he left, I realized where his daughters, who are always taking out geeky books, get it from.

Today, I typed in “lasers on shark’s heads” and came across this (showing how much not of a geek I am since I completely missed the reference):

What do you think?

Alex loves Austin Powers. Me? Not so much. I wouldn’t have gotten the reference either.

I liked the first one okay, but after that, whatever…so no, didn’t get it. Not one of those movies that sticks with me.

Hmmmm, is right!

I guess that movie reference was to prove how cool he really is. Um, yeah.

I so enjoy these Patron of the Week stories.

I’m thinking that too: about the movie reference. I guess I’m just not hip enough to get the reference. Oh, well.

And thanks for the encouragement on the Patron of the Week stories: one of the few vestiges from my previous blog. I really couldn’t leave it there since I’m still working at the library.
