Title: Sticky Readers: How To Attract A Loyal Blog Audience By Writing More Better
Author: Margaret Andrews
Pages: 105
Year: 2011
How I discover
I place my hand on the brass thingamajig on the vertical piece of wood with glass at the front of our house and pull it (the thingamajig) toward me.
After opening, I then put one foot in front of the other and walk through — right into the screen door.
D’oh.
Open the screen door.
I do…
…there the book is: inside a box on more pieces of wood (no glass). I open said box, flip through the pages, finish reading within an hour after I return inside, buttocks planted on couch cushions.
For the record, my buttocks are not that big, but each cheek is on a separate cushion. I feel better knowing that I can alternate pressure from one to the other (cheek and cushion).
My review
The book itself is nicely bound for a self-published book. A glossy cover surrounds its pages — like a bejeweled sheath that holds a sword. The font is legible.
Oh, the inscription on the sword?
Yes, the words are the real jewels.
The author, Margaret Andrews, whom I have known for the past five years thorugh her blog Nanny Goats in Panties, outlines how to attract a loyal blog audience by writing more better.
- Bait the hook.
- Reel them with in a line.
- Finally sink the post
…like a hole in one.
At least, I think that is what she was saying although I might be mixing my metaphors like Jack Daniel’s and Coke.
Final rule: Don’t drink and blog…
…or blog when tired after staying up all night (like I just did after volunteering at a hospice last night/this morning) which is akin to drunk blogging but without sinking the drink.
Instead, just sink the post — deep into the psyche of your reader
so it remains stuck
like gum under the table
at the McDonald’s at 4242 Norwood Avenue,
between Jessie and Bell avenues
in Glenwood Meadows in Sacramento,
California.
That way, you can’t get it unstuck, no matter how hard you try.
Her book is like that, only more better…
FTC Disclosure: I did not receive this as a review copy and purchased it myself. However, I do know the author and even am friends with her on Facebook (the horror! the horror!).
